The Eagles have never made a holiday album, but did cut a seasonal single, and like all their releases, it’s a consummately crafted crowd-pleaser. Released in 1978 to tide fans over between HOTEL CALIFORNIA and THE LONG RUN, “Please Come Home For Christmas” breathed new life into the Charles Brown R&B favorite; the track marked the debut of Timothy B. Schmit on bass, and its #18 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 was the highest of any Christmas song in more than a decade. The flipside pushes the calendar ahead a week to “Funky New Year”; the song is a Don Henley/Glenn Frey original. We join the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in wishing you all the best for 2026!
