“Pocket Symphony” might have entered the pop lexicon with “Good Vibrations,” but Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air gave the phrase new meaning on the pair’s fourth studio set. Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich helmed the 2007 collection, adding atmospheric touches to such dream-like songs as “Space Maker,” “Once Upon a Time” and “Mer du Japon” (one of several tracks featuring Godin playing a koto). Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker and the Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon each join the French duo on a track for good measure. Pocket Symphony topped Billboard’s Dance Albums chart, though you needn’t hit the clubs to be entranced by its introspective looks at love lost.
