Rush
Coming off a short tour in support of their preceding album, Rush was clearly energized when they joined producer Rupert Hine at studios in Quebec and Toronto to record ROLL THE BONES. Released on this day in 1991, the album emphasizes guitar-driven arrangements, melodies tailor-made for singer-bassist Geddy Lee, and even a nod to hip-hop in the title track. The dynamic instrumentation is paired with occasionally dark subject matter, resulting in one of the band’s best batches of songs, including lead single “Dreamline,” “Neurotica,” “Ghost of a Chance,” and “Bravado.” Rush came up with a commercial winner in the Platinum-certified ROLL THE BONES, which became the group’s highest charting album since MOVING PICTURES a decade earlier.
