M.U. – The Best of Jethro Tull was the first greatest hits album from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. The title is short for “Musician's Union,” a nod to the many fine players who passed through the band between 1969 and 1975 when these tracks were recorded, though Tull’s unique fusion of prog and English folk ensures the collection remains cohesive. Bar the non-LP “Rainbow Blues,” these are the songs that made the group famous: “Aqualung,” “Locomotive Breath,” “Living in the Past,” “Bungle in the Jungle” and more. M.U. – The Best of Jethro Tull was originally released in 1976 and returns today as part of Rhino’s Spirit of ‘76’ series saluting music of that year; available exclusively through independent record stores, this half-speed remastered vinyl reissue was overseen by band founder Ian Anderson.
