Few TV series channeled pre-millennial tension as well as The X-Files; the paranormal investigations of F.B.I. agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully originally ran for nine seasons on television, spawning a theatrical feature in 1998. Along with the movie came a soundtrack album, and the creepy, ambient atmosphere of THE X-FILES: THE SCORE captures the franchise’s mix of thrills and chills perfectly. Neo-classical composer Mark Snow, who had also written music for the series, had an 85-piece orchestra at his disposal for the film and put it to great use. As Allmusic said of the Elektra collection, “Snow's powerful score is a brilliant piece of work that establishes him as the rightful heir to John Williams' throne.”
