Eagles were cranking out hits so quickly in the 1970s that their record label could barely keep up; the band’s first best-of may only span four years but it’s packed with classic songs. Released on this day in 1976, THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975 features five Top Ten singles, including “Best of My Love,” “One of These Nights,” “Lyin' Eyes” and “Take It to the Limit.” A big hit on the album chart, the collection was the first ever certified Platinum and went on to become the best-selling album of the 20th century in the U.S. While hardly the end of the group’s successes – HOTEL CALIFORNIA was just around the corner – this outstanding survey of Eagles’ country-rock beginnings shows them destined for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
