Few bands dominated rock radio in the 1970s like the Eagles. Eight of the ten tracks on THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975 were Top 40 singles, including such classics as “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman,” “Best of My Love,” and “One of These Nights.” Highlighting the country-influenced acoustic textures, rich harmonies and breezy tempos of the band’s first four albums, this initial best-of remains a remarkably consistent and engaging listen. The Asylum set has also been a consistent seller; a week after its release, it became the first-ever R.I.A.A. Platinum-certified collection and just kept going (it re-entered the Billboard 200 chart on this day in 2016). With more than 45 million copies sold around the world, Eagles’ GREATEST HITS 1971-1975 stands as one of the most successful albums of all time.
