Album of the Day
Their Greatest Hits
Eagles were cranking out hits so quickly in the 1970s that their record label could barely keep up; the band’s first best-of may only span four years, but it’s packed with classic songs. Released 50 years ago this month, THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975 features five Top Ten singles, including “Best of My Love,” “One of These Nights,” “Lyin' Eyes,” and “Take It to the Limit.” A big hit on the chart, the collection was the first ever certified Platinum and went on to become the best-selling album of the 20th century in the U.S. Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 has become the first record in US history to move 40M units, earning a historic Quadruple Diamond certification from the RIAA. While hardly the end of the group’s successes, this outstanding survey of Eagles’ country-rock beginnings shows them destined for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a new crystal-clear vinyl edition of THEIR GREATEST HITS is available today.
