Album of the Day
To Record Only Water for Ten Days
After purging his demons and rejoining the Red Hot Chili Peppers, guitarist John Frusciante released his third solo album, TO RECORD ONLY WATER FOR TEN DAYS, in 2001. Its title reflecting the cleansing process of its recording, the Warner Bros. collection has a strong spiritual side apparent in its lyrics, while its music takes inspiration from U.K. synth-pop. Cut at Frusciante’s home studio, the self-produced, self-composed set is more polished and punchier than his previous work while retaining its experimental edge, with tracks like opener “Going Inside,” “Away & Anywhere” and “Ramparts” among the highlights. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, TO RECORD ONLY WATER FOR TEN DAYS will be available this Record Store Day as a 2-LP set pressed on blue & orange vinyl and including four bonus tracks.
