After a pair of solid releases, the third time was the charm for the three hombres of ZZ Top. Produced by the estimable Bill Ham, 1973's TRES HOMBRES put Frank Beard, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill into the Billboard Top Ten, becoming the Texas trio's commercial breakthrough. Partially recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, the set features sly humor and Texas-size riffs & grooves on ten outstanding originals including “Waitin’ For The Bus,” “Jesus Just Left Chicago” and the successful single “La Grange.” TRES HOMBRES still stands the test of time, and the collection was recently re-released in immersive blu-ray audio mixes as part of Rhino’s Quadio series.
