Another New Year's Playlist

Yes, you caught us: we put up a New Year's playlist yesterday, and now we're putting up another one. Look, it's been a long year, so maybe you could show a little bit of holiday spirit and cut us some slack, huh? Besides, this is a much different playlist that the one we offered up last time, with only just the tiniest bit of overlap between the two.

This one, you see, is a New Year's playlist in the truest sentence of the phrase: every song is distinctly year-centric. It's also absurdly diverse, kicking off in a mellow manner with a track by Pat Metheny before heading into a mix that includes Cliff Richard, the Breeders, Otis Redding and Carla Thomas, Kid Rock, Stephen Sondheim, Tori Amos, the Flaming Lips, and Michael Feinstein. We'd like to think of it as a playlist that has a little something for everybody, but it's always possible that there isn't actually anybody whose tastes are diverse enough to appreciate everything on here.

Still, why not give it a try? It's all over the place, but it's all from Rhino's catalog, and if nothing else, it can't be a bad thing to wrap things up with a song proclaiming “This Will Be Our Year.” Indeed, here's hoping that 2016 is everyone's year, that it's filled with as much music as you can stand, and that a whole lot of it bears the Rhino label.
