FLEETWOOD MAC 1980: Got LIVE If You Want It

After ending the '70s with the tumultuous but wildly successful one-two punch of Rumours and Tusk, Fleetwood Mac ceremoniously closed out 1980 with the band's very first live album. Released on December 8, 1980, the double-LP simply titled Live mostly chronicled the group's Tusk tour, with a couple of performances from the Rumours tour added for good measure.

A special invite-only show at the Santa Monica Civic Center "for crew and friends" resulted in a handful of new songs: "One More Night" by Christine McVie, "Fireflies" by Stevie Nicks, and a cover of the Beach Boys' "The Farmer's Daughter." "Dreams" and "Don't Stop" were captured during a soundcheck in Paris. "Fireflies" is notable as it finds Nicks reflecting on the contentious recording sessions that resulted in Tusk.

Among the Live album highlights is an incendiary version of 1969 Peter Green-penned single, "Oh Well," featuring the fiery guitar work of Lindsey Buckingham. The album was a brisk seller over the 1980 holiday season, finding its way to a peak position of #14 on the Billboard 200. Live was officially certified Gold on February 11, 1981.

A freshly remastered and expanded deluxe version of Fleetwood Mac's Live album is set to arrive on April 9.
