ALADDIN SANE : 45th ANNIVERSARY – Silvery Vinyl

On April 20, David Bowie’s ALADDIN SANE celebrated its 45th anniversary, and may we just say that we wish we could find makeup that’d let our lightning bolts last that long and still look that good.

While we haven’t found any yet, we’ve got a good reason for why we had to stop looking for awhile: we were busy prepping a limited-edition silvery vinyl version of the album for release. Cool, right?

Oh, and guess what else? The album’s already been released!

Yep, that’s right: the ALADDIN SANE: 45TH ANNIVERSARY LP on silvery vinyl hit stores this past Friday – on the actual anniversary of its original release! – and it’s a limited-edition run. In addition to being silvery, the LP contains Ken Scott’s 2013 remaster of the album.

If you’re a Bowie fan, you already know the track listing of ALADDIN SANE forwards and backwards, but in case you’re only a casual listener, we’ll just remind you – or possibly inform you for the first time – that this is the album that includes the classic singles “The Jean Genie” and “Drive-In Saturday,” the oft-played classic rock staple “Panic in Detroit,” and Bowie’s classic cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Let’s Spend the Night Together.”

Rolling Stone put it in their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Pitchfork called it one of the Best Albums of the ‘70s. If you don’t have it yet, then you clearly need to fix that situation, so why not do so by picking up a silvery-vinyl version? (Just don’t miss out: supplies are limited!)
