If you’re American, then you may not have heard that Dexys Midnight Runners have dropped the “Midnight Runners” from their name and simply go by Dexys now. In addition, you may have read the preceding sentence and thought, “Wait, Dexys Midnight Runners are still together?”

Given this startling news, we’ll forgive you for not really even paying attention to the reason we wrote that sentence in the first place – again, they’re just Dexys now – but to answer your question, yes, they’re still together, and as of today, they’ve got a new album, too.

Let the Record Show: Dexys Do Irish and Country Soul is, its title suggests, a collection of cover songs, but if you know what’s good for you, you won’t call it a covers album. As far as Kevin Rowland is concerned, it’s simply a Dexys album, one which he and the other members of the band spent just as much time and care putting together as they would have an album of originals.

If you come back and visit us again on Monday, then you’ll be able to get all of the details about Let the Record Show straight from Rowland himself, since we hopped on the phone with him just before the release of the new album and got the scoop about its origins straight from the horse’s mouth. Until then, here’s the track listing for the album, which should feature a title or two alone that’ll have you champing at the bit to check it out.
