Out Now: THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING – THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS

When it comes to citing the most successful film trilogies in Hollywood history, there’s no question that The Lord of the Rings makes the list. Indeed, the trilogy was so popular that many of the moviegoers who fell in love with Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels found themselves smitten with the soundtrack as well, resulting in those albums selling millions of copies. Now, Rhino is releasing box sets of these soundtracks… No, scratch that: the first one is out now, so we’ve actually released it!

In stores now, you can find THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS, composed, orchestrated, and conducted by Howard Shore and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with contributions by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the London Voices and the London Oratory School Schola. Additionally, there are two songs written and performed by Enya: “May It Be” and “Aniron (Theme for Aragorn and Arwen).” 

For the first time, these recordings are being made available as a vinyl box set, one with a red leather style spine to match the five red vinyl LPs housed within. Please note that this is a limited edition set of which only 5,000 copies will be made available. There’ll also be a 3-CD set which also includes a Blu-ray audio disc containing high-resolution 5.1 and Stereo mixes of the entire score, a reactivation of the 2005 box set featuring the entire score from the extended versions of the film. Both versions come with extensive liner notes from author Doug Adams who analyzes many of the themes and motifs used throughout the score.
