Rhino Jazz Appreciation 2022

RHINO JAZZ APPRECIATION
RHINO CELEBRATES JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH
WITH COMMISSIONED ARTWORK AND THREE MAJOR RELEASES
Paying tribute to the historic American
art form and its many players
Established in the early 2000’s by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and its Curator Emeritus John Edward Hasse, JAM is a
month-long celebration that is nationally recognized in the U.S. and has been
internationally celebrated for the past 20 years.
Originally created to shine a public spotlight on the history & heritage of an
iconic and deeply American musical artform, JAM encourages fans new & old
to participate by curating their own events throughout the month. April is
especially significant as it is the birth month of some of the genre’s most
towering figures, including Ella Fitzgerald and Charles Mingus—who would
have turned 100 this year!
In tribute and celebration, Rhino releases three deluxe editions of classic jazz
titles by legendary artists Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and Art Blakey.
To commemorate the releases and uplift the diversity of Rhino’s jazz roster,
a new art piece entitled “Rhino’s Greatest – Jazz Appreciation 2022” was
created. It also features the seriously dynamic trio of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina
Simone and Alice Coltrane.
