Album of the Day
The original line-up of Led Zeppelin played its last-ever show on this day in 1980; two years later a final studio album, CODA, was released. While this compilation of unreleased material may have been intended to fulfill the band's contractual obligations to Atlantic Records, it remains an essential part of the quartet's catalog thanks to outstanding performances and hard-rocking grooves. Producer Jimmy Page culled the archives for tracks spanning the 1970s including recordings intended for LED ZEPPELIN III, HOUSES OF THE HOLY and IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR (he also plays some pretty good guitar here). The Top 10, Platinum-certified CODA is a satisfying swan song for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.
