Album of the Day
THE GREY ALBUM may have made mash-ups popular, but combining disparate music rarely works as well as it does on COLLISION COURSE. As with Danger Mouse's seminal set, Jay-Z supplies half of the sound, with Linkin Park providing the rest and – unusually for most mash-ups – both performers shaped the finished product with new recordings. These six tracks display a remarkable synergy between the artists, exemplified by “Numb/Encore,” which won a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy. Released on this day in 2004, COLLISION COURSE was also a commercial hit, debuting at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
