Even in a family of hitmakers (his father was lead singer of The O'Jays), Gerald Levert's success was impressive - four Gold albums with his group LeVert, followed by four more as a solo artist. Gerald's final studio album was IN MY SONGS; the singer-songwriter had completed work on it just before his untimely death in November 2006. The album is old-school R&B at its best, with uptempo gems (“DJ Don't,” “Wanna Get Up With You”) alongside some of the most passionate ballads you're ever likely to hear (the Grammy-winning title track among them). Gerald Levert was born fifty years ago today, and we'll remember the talented performer with IN MY SONGS.
