As part of the year-long celebration, Rhino, in conjunction with the Concord Music group, are releasing a series of Stax Classics CDs, 12 track compilations featuring some of the best southern soul tunes by the likes of Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Booker T. & The MG’s, William Bell, Albert King, & of course, The Big O, Otis Redding. STAX CLASSICS: OTIS REDDING distills his incredible discography down to bona fide soul classics like “Try A Little Tenderness,” “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” and “Respect,” which was later immortalized by Aretha Franklin. Naturally, the collection also includes “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay,” a posthumous release that topped both the R&B and pop charts.

In addition 2017 sees the release of the long-awaited official biography, ‘Otis Redding: An Unfinished Life’ by Jonathan Gould.
