The third and final single from Laura Branigan's fourth studio album, Hold Me, was a song written by then-up and coming singer-songwriter, Michael Bolton, with Mark Mangold: "I Found Someone."

Bolton had already penned Branigan's 1983 hit "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," which peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

While Branigan promoted the power ballad with a performance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson on New Year's Eve 1985, "I Found Someone" didn't arrive in single form until February 7, 1986. The song arrived without a music video, hampering its chances on the MTV-fueled pop singles chart of the mid-'80s. The single was only able to reach #90 on the Hot 100, but had much more of an impact on the Adult Contemporary chart, where "I Found Someone" peaked at #25 for the week of March 22, 1986.

That was hardly the end of the chart run for "I Found Someone." In November 1987, Cher released her own version of the song as the lead single from her self-titled album released that year. Cher's version turned up the song's bombast with layers of AOR guitars and a splashy big-budget music video, driving the track all the way to #10 on the Hot 100 in March 1987.
