For What It’s Worth, Rhino Is Releasing A New Buffalo Springfield Box Set

We’re only a few days away from the 50th anniversary of Buffalo Springfield’s final show, a performance which capped a two-year period which saw the band releasing three studio albums: their self-titled debut, their sophomore effort, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD AGAIN, and their swan song, LAST TIME AROUND. Since we’re not around the office on the weekend, we decided we’d go ahead and commemorate the occasion a few days early by letting you in on some great news. 

On June 29, Rhino will be releasing WHAT’S THAT SOUND? THE COMPLETE ALBUMS COLLECTION, which will feature all three of the aforementioned albums, each of which has been newly remastered from the original analog tapes under the watchful ears of a fella by the name of Neil Young. In fact, WHAT’S THAT SOUND? will actually be a five-CD set, as it will also include mono mixes of Buffalo Springfield’s first two albums. 

In addition to the five-CD version, we’ll also be releasing the set digitally, but here’s something that’ll make Buffalo Springfield fans particularly happy: for the first time ever, we’re also releasing these albums on 180-gram vinyl. You’ll be able to pick them up in a limited-edition set – only 5,000 copies available! – and they’ll be presented in sleeves and gatefolds which are faithful recreations of the original releases. 

Of course, June 29 is still quite some time away, but here’s a little Instant Gratification for you: the newly-remastered version of the band’s iconic hit, “For What It’s Worth.”
