Now Available: New Order, Singles

If there's one law of the music business that never fails to be a truism, it's that a new studio album by an artist will inevitably result in a new greatest-hits collection. Sometimes it's a companion piece, other times it's a stop-gap measure 'til the next studio album, but you may rest assured that one will arrive at some point or other, and it'll probably be sooner than later.

Having now briefed you on this matter, it will be less shocking to you that New Order-who released Music Complete back in September—are now delivering Singles.

No, this isn't the first time New Order has delivered a two-disc compilation called Singles. Heck, it's not even the first time they've delivered one with this exact same artwork. In other words, this is not entirely dissimilar to a collection that you may well have purchased upon its initial release in 2005. But this version does feature newly-remastered versions of the 32 songs included within, and there actually are a couple of changes in the track listing, although they might not catch your eye if you're not paying attention.

Gone is the version of “1963” from 1994's The Best of New Order that originally resided on disc one, which has caused “Blue Monday” to get bumped from disc two's opening track to disc one's closer. Instead, disc two features the Arthur Baker remix of “Nineteen63,” as it's now labeled, and it's been positioned between “Spooky” and “Crystal,” while the Secret Machines' remix of “Temptation” has disappeared altogether, replaced with “I'll Stay With You,” from 2013's Lost Sirens.

Really, that's about it for the switch-ups. Like we said, the track listing isn't significantly different, but it's different enough that we wanted to warn you. In fact, just to be safe, why don't we offer it up in its entirety?
