Coming Soon: The Replacements – The Twin/Tone Years on Vinyl (Article)
Wednesday, July 8, 2015
The Replacements: you know them, you love them, you can’t live without them, and apparently you won’t be able to get any more of them, given what Paul Westerberg said onstage during the band’s performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Porto back in June. So much for that reunion album that they’d been talking about, apparently, but, hey, that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the albums they’ve already released. Yes, we know, we’ve done a few of these reissues already, but if you’re a ‘Mats purist who believes that the band was never the same after they signed to Sire, then you’ll dig this: we’re

Now Streaming: The Replacements, “Talent Show” (MATT WALLACE MIX) (Article)
Wednesday, July 31, 2019
When The Replacements released their 1988 album DON’T TELL A SOUL, the end result proved to be the most commercially successful album of the band’s career, but that doesn’t mean that they were happy with how it sounded. Indeed, it’s well-documented that the LP was just a little too smoothly-polished for the band’s liking – Paul Westerberg famously said, “I thought the little things I’d cut in my basement were closer to what I wanted” – but what you may not realize is that the album’s producer, Matt Wallace, wasn’t particularly thrilled with it, either, having not been the one in charge of

5 Things You Might Not Know About Paul Westerberg (Article)
Monday, December 31, 2018
Today we celebrate the birthday of Paul Westerberg, the man who became an alt-rock legend by fronting The Replacements and then continued to bless his fans with solo material after the band broke up. In honor of this tremendous singer-songwriter, we’ve put together a list of 5 things about Westerberg that you might not have been aware of. 1. He was working for a senator when he first stumbled upon his soon-to-be bandmates. As if fate wanted to put him in a position where he could later write a song about it, Westerberg was in the lyrically perfect position of being a janitor for a senator –

Dr. Rhino's Picks #78 (Article)
Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Has anyone ever loved a band as much as Replacements’ fans love The Replacements? According to this Doctor/Fan, “Nope!” ABOUT DR. RHINO A young Dr. Rhino first encountered the magic of song whilst being born in the front seat of a Lincoln Continental. As the attending physician recalls, the tune was “Touch Me In The Morning” by Diana Ross. It was a mind-blower. Over the years, Dr. Rhino listened to many, many more songs. And, after several summers of diggin’ music, making the scene & a stint in Attica, the good doctor joined Rhino Records. A remarkable career of taste & empathy ensued. Dr

New Release: ‘Mats Twin Tone Vinyl (Article)
Tuesday, August 11, 2015
As legendary as The Replacements are, never before have the albums recorded by the band during their gloriously ramshackle early years been compiled into a vinyl box set. Oh, sure, just about everything else has been compiled into some set or other, but we double-checked, and we’re relatively confident that The Twin/Tone Years is the first time that the ‘Mats’ first three LPs and the Stink EP have ever gotten this particular treatment…and if by some chance we’re wrong about this (even though we’re pretty sure we’re not), it’s definitely the first time these albums have enjoyed a vinyl pressing
