Now Available: Whitesnake, THE ROCK ALBUM (Article)
Friday, June 19, 2020
There’s no question that Whitesnake rocks, and they’ve done so for several decades now, so why not take a look back at their long, hard career – because they rock hard, obviously – with a new compilation that spotlights some of the more notable tunes in their repertoire? THE ROCK ALBUM spans three decades of the band’s career, with the song selections taken from Whitesnake efforts between 1984 and 2011, and it’s the first of three compilations that are part of their planned “Red, White and Blues Trilogy” of LPs: LOVE SONGS, (red), THE ROCK ALBUM (white), and THE BLUES ALBUM (blue). Last year Rhino helped Whitesnake celebrate the 30 th anniversary of their self-titled 1987 album – you know, the one that provided fans with such iconic hits as “Still of the Night” and “Here I Go Again” – and this year… Well, we’re not celebrating a particular anniversary, we’re just celebrating the band in general! How are we doing that, you ask? By offering up UNZIPPED: SUPER DELUXE EDITION, a 5-CD / 1-DVD collection filled with unplugged and acoustic performances recorded by Whitesnake over the course of the past 20+ years, including acoustic demos, rare and previously-unreleased studio

The One after the Big One: Whitesnake, SLIP OF THE TONGUE (Article)
Thursday, July 12, 2018
In the ‘80s, David Coverdale seemed to have two overarching concerns — sex and the blues (and maybe Aquanet, which would make three). Whitesnake’s music had always had something of a blues base, though fed through large amplifiers and played in arenas. As the decade progressed, that particular obsession seemed to wane; the band neatly took over Europe and other areas that were not the United States, and the bent-note, gutbucket influences of yore faded as quickly as you could say “Slide it In.” That blues were absent on Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987 record, which abandoned any pretext of

Out Now: Whitesnake, SLIDE IT IN / SLIP OF THE TONGUE (Article)
Friday, November 10, 2017
A few weeks ago, Rhino reissued Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987 album to celebrate its 30 th anniversary, but we’re in no way done with our efforts to show a little love to the back catalog of David Coverdale and company. This week brings our reissues of two additional albums from their discography, a pair which provides listeners with the opportunity to both slip and slide. SLIDE IT IN (1984): Although the band originally entered the studio with Eddie Kramer on board to helm the sessions, his lack of feeling for the band led to him being replaced by Martin Birch, who ultimately produced an

Out Today: Whitesnake, THE PURPLE TOUR LIVE (Article)
Friday, January 19, 2018
In 2015, David Coverdale took a trip back in time, venturing into the studio with Whitesnake to revisit some of the material released by Deep Purple during the era when he was fronting the band. It was an interesting decision, but it was one that paid off for Coverdale: the resulting LP – appropriately entitled THE PURPLE ALBUM – was a critical success which took them into top 20 of the UK album charts and put them back into the Billboard 200 for the first time since 2011. Accordingly, Coverdale and company subsequently hit the road to promote THE PURPLE ALBUM, and the tour proved so
